undress / re-dress

Undress/Re-Dress is a durational piece that aims to evoke and explore the ambiguities of intimate inter-human interaction between the disabled, female body and the able-bodied male. A man slowly undresses the artist in front of an audience, starting with her jewellery and continuing slowly and carefully to take of her clothes item by item, until she is naked. As soon as he has removed all her clothes he starts to redress her from a pile of identical clothes. This cycle repeats.

This piece was commissioned by the Live Arts Development Agency for Access All Areas - Live Art and Disability. It was originally performed in collaboration with Jordan McKenzie, and has since toured extensively.
