You are welcome
In this work Lakmaier sits on a wooden stage, wearing a brown paper bag over her head and an 80-meter long red dress that stretches though the gallery space and out into the car park, inviting visitors to walk on it like on a red carpet. As viewers come closer they see the artist with a ream of paper in her lap, slowly and methodically folding paper airplanes and launching them into the gallery space. At a time unknown to the artist, she is picked up by a man in a suit who carries her out of the building, dress trailing behind them.
You Are Welcome is a durational performance that first took place at g39 in Cardiff as part of Tu Fewn curated by Gail Howard. The piece was then performed at IntegrArt, Zurich.
